Device and "the rest" of a circuit with different net width and clearances. The case of the MSP430

Hi all:

The current footprint for those devices provides small SMDs which restrict

the nets tied to them in terms of width and clearance.

I have bigger preferences for the nets in my circuit and I have defined

those preferences on the Net Classes.

The autorouter is not able to route the signals on the SMDs of the MSP430

because they don't fit on the current restrictions defined on my Net

Classes.

Is there any way to have different preference for the nets on a particular

device instead on other parts of the circuit?

For example, the VCC and GND on my circuit (which also are tied to the MSP)

are defined to have a clearance which I would like to preserve in general,

but as in this IC is not feasible, I would accept the smaller restrictions

on it. How could I achieve it?

Thank you!

Best regards,

    Hi,

it is not possible to have different rules for a net in different

areas. The net classes always are valid for the whole net/signal.

What you could do is to help the autorouter by routing short

traces out of the MSP430 and end them anywhere in the layout

so that the autorouter can continue the routing with its

    Design Rules.
