DRC errors

SMD111

I created a model for Tyco connector 6-104078-3, which has 68 round pads with 0.05” spacing, 0.032” diameter, 0.023” drills.
The DRC keeps giving me hundreds of “Clearance” errors. I have all clearance settings in DRC equal to 8 mil.
I do not understand this:
50 mil spacing minus 32 mil pad diameter = 18 mil clearance, more than twice the minimal setting, but I still get these errors in DRC.
Please advice.

Most likely the diameter isn't 0.032" because that requires a "restring"

of only 0.0045" which is less than your DRC settings. It's a very tight

    connector!

    Thank you, Rob!

I changed the pad size to 0.04" and that made restring become 0.0082 - just enough to satisfy the restring minimum in DRC, while still leaving 0.01" of clearance between the pads. A tight fit indeed! But I don't get a single error after running DRC now.

Thus, in fact, it was a "Restring" error, not a "Clearance" one. Since the DRC settings window has tabs with both of these words, the error message with "Clearance" word is misleading and should be changed in future versions.
