Adding 2804 - Darlington Transistor Array

Former Member

Hey everyone,

I am new to Eagle software and to schematic design in general, but I am having an issue trying to add a part from the transistor-array.lbr, more specifically, the ULN-2804.

I try to add it and I get an error saying that it has unconnected pins. I go into the Library Editor and the Connect screen. I can see the extra pin G$1.19, however I cannot figure out how to remove it. Can anyone assist? Since I am new to this program, the more detail the better.

Thank you!

Joe

The version of this device in the uln-udn.lbr works for me. I suggest

    you try that one.

You may want to try fixing the faulty one by editing the library,

because creating and editing library parts is a skill you will find

invaluable very soon, but for now I'd use the one that's correct.

Thank you so much! I must have missed that library during my initial search.

    Wellcome on board image

The library files in the download section are user files. Some of them

have errors and besides nobody garantees for error free libraries anyway.

Usually eagle users report errors of Cadsoft files, so they can be

corrected on the next update. That does not go for user files.

In case of the mentioned library the pin 19 is on top of pin 4 in the

symbol. You can find it by moving that pin away from the original

position in the library. Then you can remove it.

You could have found the device in the eagle uln-udn.lbr by the way.

But if you prefer the more graphic symbol of the user library then you

should also correct the (electrical) direction of the pins which here

are all wrong I/Os. Correct would be INPUTS and OC (open collectors).

You should correct that library for your own skill because library

editing makes the other 50% of layouting. Aaaaand finally you should not

touch the eagle libraries. Create your own libraries because all of your

work will be lost if you do an eagle update and the libraries are

    overwritten image
