The standard edition of eagle can't perform the requested action !

Hi,

 

I have to modify an existing eagle schematic/pcb.

This pcb have 4 layers.

 

I bought the "Standart edition" licence of Eagle, which normaly can

perform: 99 schematic sheets, 6 signal layers, 160x100mm routing area.

I'm under Linux, and installed the package of my distribution ( Ubuntu

), Eagle is in 5.7.0 version .

The license seems to be correctly registered in the software.

 

 

I can modify the TOP and BOTTOM wires but when I want to modify wires

in inner layers ( Route2, Route3 here ) I have this error message:

 

       The standard edition of eagle can't perform the requested

action !

 

Is there a way to exatly know what is blocking the software ?

 

 

Thanks for your advices.

Make sure your license file was accepted.  Close all the windows except for

Control Panel and close any projects.  Then close EAGLE and reopen it. When

you reopen it you will see on the right-hand pane (you may have to make the

window bigger) the license information.  It will tell you the type of

license you have installed.  So make sure that it matches your

expectations.

As for number of layers, if you had a design with 2 layers in the PCB and

then installed the license, you still have to enable the other layers in

the PCB in the DRC->Layers tab.  Just because you installed a license

doesn't mean all 2 layer PCB's should now become 6 by default--you still

have to set each board up for the appropriate number of layers.
