How to change name and value of copied package?

Hello,

I'm designing a new component and used the command "copy packagename@library.lbr" because I didn't want to draw the package. I copied the SO08 from the 40xx.lbr.

This was working fine, I renamed the pins but I'm not able to change ">name" and "value". Why is this? 25tnames and 27tvalues can't be modified. I can only add names and values...

Does anyone has an idea on how to solve this?

Ok, thank you guys.

It's true , when changing the value/name in the schematic and then switching to the board, it changes there as well...
This whole thing is new for me, so I will soon bother you again. :-)

why would you want to?

They will be replace by the component name and value when you add them
to your schematic.

If you'd like to change der position/size you need to edit the
package.

The .png didn't make it to the newsgroup. The link @ Farnell doesn't
work correctly. You must edit your library package to change name/value
or move it around. I would not erase them because then you can never
assign a name/value later in the layout.
