Re: "Transparent" windows under ubuntu 7.04

I am a fairly new migrator from Windows. I have reasonable  experience

running Eagle under Windows and I do have an Eagle win/linux license.

I did install Eagle the beginner-safe way using Synaptic, it loaded the

packages and I think that it installed Eagle as it should.

At first I thought something was absolutely wrong with the installation

package, since the dialog windows were completely white. After fooling

around, I relized that the text was not invisible, only "transparent",

meaning that if I placed it over a dark area on the desktop, I can read.

Managed to finish the installation, works as expected, BUT all eagle windows

still has this weird transparent behaviour so that underlying windows are

"glowing through" and that the brightest colour of any wiondow spot in any

specific location takes precedence.

This means that it almost impossible to configure the program.

Any suggestions?

I did the same operation to install EAGLE in UBUNTU 8.04 getting the

same results: all the windows are transparent and it's no possible to

config the product that remains unusable....Can you suggest some

corrections or actions?

Some video cards or on board video hardware have bugs in the drivers.

What video hardware and driver do you have?

    Try disabling desktop effects.
