POLYGON as PAD for PART

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

I need to create custom PAD geometry using the POLYGON tool in order to make

a PART.

The problem I am having is it is not letting me NAME the copper that is

created nor assign a PIN.

I created the PART by dropping a SMD PAD on the copper.... however, MIRROR

does not swap the copper (polygon) board side.

Can someone help?

Thank you!

Do a search in all groups for SMD, you will find a lot of information.

None were found... that's why I posted... seems by now I could have just

been given the answer of the direction, instead of just telling me to "look"

    when I've already done that.

Just looking for "polygon" in this newsgroup, I found the following post

fairly easily.  Make sure your newgroup reader is accessing all the messages

    in the group's history.

I was wondering if any one knows how to make a pad from a polygon.  The

verticies of the polygon are as follows.

          Vertex X Y

          1 -3.3565 3.285

          2 0.808 3.285

          3 0.808 1.056

          4 3.3565 1.056

          5 3.3565 -3.285

          6 0.2475 -3.285

          7 0.2475 -0.94

          8 -3.3565 -0.94

As a reference this is for a Freescale part #MC13214 which can be found

    here:

    http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=MC13214

Not supported in eagle yet. Polygons can not be signals.

You can add a stop mask and cream polygon to the lib.

For the pad put one smaller one and then covert your data to a script

using relative points. Using the mark on the center of the pad then run

the script to draw the polygon then name it the net name of that pad.

    Paul R.

Ok for example if i put a pad with the dimension of 1 x 1 with the center

    at

the center of the part what would i have to do next.  I am fairly

experienced with the graphical end of eagle but when it comes to scripts I

    am completly lost.

    Jake P

Place a mark on the center of the pad.

Either type or paste into the command line or save a file with would

    look like the following.

    polygon (r10 r10) (r10 r200) (r50 r200) (r50 r10) (r10 r10);

Before you run it you need to select the polygon tool and set the

    bend,layer and other options.

If the grid is set to mil then the above should draw a rectangle 40mil

by 190mil rectangle 10mil above and to the right of a mark.

You will have to convert your (x y) pairs to the correct relative value

I would use a spread sheet for the math.

Review the online help in the keyboard and mouse section and move for

    keyboard entry of data points.
