Preventing air wires & using FreeRouting.net with Eagle 6.1

Hi All...

 

I recently started to use Eagle 6.1 and I noticed that when it auto-routes my board it typically generates between 30 and 45 air wires :-( I thought I would give FreeRouting.net a try. They provide a ULP file to generate a DSN file, that is used as input to that site. But the ULP file they provide does not work, reporting a syntax error.

 

Is there a way to generate a dsn file so I can try out freerouting.net?

 

Also, are there atrategies for reducing the number of air wires?

    If you have ground planes, rip them up, autoroute, and then put in your ground planes.

     

    The eagle autorouter is pretty good, BUT, it stinks if you have ground planes!

     

    Also you can reduce your grid size if its having trouble getting around pins, but then your autoroute time goes up the finer it is

    You can download an Eagle V6 ULP from the CADsoft website to generate a

    DSN file from Eagle V6 for FreeRouting. The link on the FreeRouting site

    is for Eagle V5, which has a different internal structure.
