Milling area shorts to internal polygons

Hi All

I have just had a board come back from manufacture where the top layer is joined to an internal layer around a through plated milling slot.  It seems there is no keepout layer for the internal layers when laying out a board or defining a component package.  It is also not picked up on a DRC check.  I have been using EAGLE for over 10 years and this is the first time the DRC has let me down.  Does anyone know how to put a slot in the board and have it treated like a pad so that it is isolated from the internal layers if it is on a different net?  I can provide a test .SCH and .BRD file to demonstrate if required.

Many thanks

I don't use the milling layer for that very reason.  Everything I need

cut after the plate-through process gets put on the dimension layer.

You'll notice that when you add a hole to a board, it places a circle in

the dimension layer, too.  Polygons get pulled back from dimension elements.

On special boards that have holes that MUST NOT be plated through, I

include notes to that effect in the README.txt file, and a follow it up

with a phone call to the CAD department of the board fab house - just to

make sure they actually open the freakin' file and read it!

Enjoy the comforting whine of the Dremmel tool.

Cheers Chuck - I have redefined the slot as a dimension and it all works fine now.

Seems like a fault that should be sorted though - I can see no use for the milling layer as it currently functions.

    Regards

    John
