Hello,
I am trying to place vias inside the area of a pad. The vias are part of the same net as the pad. When I run DRC, I get an overlap error. How do I place vias in a pad in a such a way that DRC is happy?
Thanks

From a previous post discussing thermal pads and vias, it looks like the answer to my question is no.
To confirm, is there no way to add vias to a pad without getting DRC errors?

If the via has the same name as the signal that belongs to the pad
it is allowed to let them overlap without a DRC overlap error. But
it could happen that you will get a "Drill Distance" error in case
the drills are too close (depending on the Drill/Hole distance
setting in the Design Rules.

Richard,
Thanks for your reply. Would a "Drill Distance" error show up in DRC as just that? The error I am getting in DRC is "Overlap" not "Drill Distance"

If a via that has the same name as the SMD's signal is placed on a
SMD and there is a clearance value set for "VIA-SMD same signal" DRC
will report an overlap error.

Thanks - that setting fixed the problem!
