DRC check for via diameter (not drill diameter)

Former Member

Hi,

Even though I knew better, I again made a PCB with via's with 0.8 mm drills with the default diameter, resulting in too small a pad (I make the boards myself so I don't have through-hole plating, and pads that are too small can tear off).

So, I was going to make a design rule that checks via diameter, but I couldn't find any. Is that right, or am I overlooking something?

I use Eagle 6.2

Thanks

The DRC not only checks dimensions but also causes sizes to happen.

Your issue would be solved by setting, within the DRC, the 'restring' value

    for vias.

Doing that correctly will enable a minimum copper area around the via hole

    for small drill sizes.

Set the DRC/ Restring / Via /  Outer / Min value to the width of copper you

    want.

Thank you, this is exactly what I needed. Might do it to pads as well, as far as it allows me to still run wires between 0.1 grids.
