Stumped: New Projects and Files

Hi,

I've been using Eagle for a while now but this is beyond me: what is the relationship between projects and files?

Here is the sequence: make a new folder, make a new project in that folder, make a new schematic in that project. In the control panel view all looks well. So it seems to me I should be able to open that project the next time I start Eagle and those files should open auto-magically. but they don't. Either I get a totally different set of files from another project, or I get no files at all. There seems to be no pattern to it.

How does this work? What am I doing wrong?

EAGLE directly use folder as project. a file named "eagle.epf" was
automatic placed in that folder when the project creating, and give a
red folder icon. so, no need create a folder before you create a project.

If there is no "eagle.epf" file in the folder, It can't be recognize as
a project, and the schematic and board file in folder just are not
related files, this may cause chaos.
