"Left Click to Place" fails in the board editor, in Eagle 5.2 light.

Having just downloaded version 5.2, I'm stymied by a sudden inability to

"Left Click to Place" objects in the board editor, when fine movement is

selected.

If I keep my paws off +left_click. Is there some configuration

item that needs fudging? Or does the remedy lie in .Xmodmap?

Yes, the platform is ubuntu 7.10

Erik

P.S. I hope this goes out OK. I've just installed slrn, hopefully half

correctly.

If I keep my paws off <alt>, then "Left Click to Place" works fine, but

on the coarse grid, which naturally isn't much help.

It's as if Eagle can't see <alt>+left_click. Is there some configuration

item that needs fudging? Or does the remedy lie in .Xmodmap?

I am not sure but check if you KDE or Gnome or window manager is not

using the Alt Click and preventing it from reaching eagle. I turned it

off when eagle had focus somewhere but don't know where now.

Ah yes, the little gnomes were intercepting Alt-Click. Fixing that was

just a matter of changing the window "Movement Key" from Alt to Control

    or Super.

The quickest way to do that in Gnome is in System -> Preferences -> Windows.
