Wire Link question - Eagle Newbie

Former Member
Former Member over 12 years ago

New to Eagle and loving it. I'm developing a single sided board and have used manual and auto routing to get an 87% finished board. I'd like to add wire links in to jump a few islands

For instance, unconnected GND Planes and a few components with placements unable to route directly. I can add pads to the layout and connect to components but how do I signify to Eagle that these are connected (with a wire link) and hence, remove the air wires? And, how do I add pads to the ground plane and a link for the same purpose. When I add a pad to the ground plane, and do a Rats Nest, the pads are isolated.

All help gratefully appreciated.

TIA Steve

Well, I've done more digging and found an answer. If you manually lay 'Wires' and Vias, you can add a 'link', actually a trace, on the top layer. this is seen as a valid link by Eagle so when you do a Ratsnest, it tidys up the air wires. I've searched nigh on 5 days for this info!

Any other suggestions will still be welcome. I've lots to learn!

It's the right way. In fact the wire links are placed on the top layer.

If you make a double sided board they will be traces, actually. With a

single side board you make them manually, but EAGLE doesn't know that image
