How to get text to default as vector

How do I get the board text tool to default the font as vector?  I tried setting "Always Vector Font" in the User Interface dialog box, but that didn't work.  I've looked on this forum and found several mentions about edititing eagle.scr, but I coudn't find specific instructions what needs to be added to eagle.scr.

I'm using eagle 6.3

    I'm using eagle 6.3

    It is a bit tricky how this all works. These are my thoughts:

    "Always Vector Font" can only be manually set and appears in

    ..Options>User Interface.. of the Contol Panel, Board and Schematic. Add or

    remove the check mark for "Always Vector Font" in one of those places and it

    changes in the others as well.

    "Always Vector Font" has an associated setting, in the Board editor and

    Schematic editors  "Persistant in this drawing' and that seems to be the

    master even if "Always Vector Font" is not set. It is affected by the

    command "set vector_font on|off;"

    It apears that once this is set the board editor only/always  display vector

    fonts no matter what the font setting of the text object is. Likewise the

    CAM processor only processes vector fonts.

    To make it all tidy though it would be good if the text objects font

    attribute did read 'vector' and not 'proportional' when it is always

    displayed as a vector font on your board.

    This can be done with the change font vector command;

    I suggest the following.

    Open up eagle.scr (found in the scr folder) in a text editor.

    You will see the section that pertains to the board BRD:

    Insert the following lines just before the schematic section SCH:

    set vector_font on;

    change font vector;

    So now when eagle.scr gets run the settings will be as you desired.

    HTH

    Actually, no, it wouldn't. Because that would be a lie.

    The "always vector font" option affects the way Eagle renders text on

    screen (or printout). It does not affect the text object's "font"

    attribute. If you turn off "always vector" then proportional text

    objects return to being shown as proportional, because they have never

    really been otherwise.

    Cheers,

    Rob
