Eagle 6.3 crashing under Win7

mouradnik

Updated to E6.3.0 yesterday from E5.11.0

Starting with a brand new project.

Endless crashes that seem to have no relation to the action in process.  Never saw a crash with 5.11.0

I have not run more than 15 minutes without seeing the Eagle.exe has stopped working dialog.

I have checked permissions on the program directory.

The only old thing I have seen is that when I create a new project the new eagle.epf file still points to many of the old 5.11 libraries.

I have manually deleted the "UsedDirectory=" lines that point to the 5.11 libraries and I'm still getting the crash and burn.

The Options | Directories entry is set to "EagleDir\lbr" per the default setting.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

    Hi Mike,

There may be a conflict due to the eaglerc.usr being shared between

your old V5 and your new V6. Try the following:

    1.Open a text editor(Notepad, Notepad++, etc.)

2.You're going to write a very simple batch file, its a one liner that

    consists of:

    'fullpath_to_the_eagle_executable_here'

    -U'Path_to_where_you_want_eagle_to_store_eaglerc.usr'

3.Save this to your desktop with whatever name you find convenient the

    extension needs to be .bat.

4.From now on double click it to start EAGLE. This will make sure EAGLE

uses a seperate eaglerc file and you will no longer have interactions

    with V5.

    hth,

    Jorge Garcia
