Cannot place any component in the board in the freeware licensed eagle cad

Hello,

I have a freeware version of eagle cad 6.3.0.

I'm trying to build a custom board for my project using only 3 surface mount ic's. i have build a library file for the IC I require of a size 8.83x7mm. when i try to place it on my board design it shows an error

"the lite edition of eagle cannot perform this action. Some objects extend outside the board area"

It shows me this error even when i try to place any component from the pre-installed library.

Please help me with this..

You only get to use a small area in the upper right quadrant above that + you see on the screem. Make sure your board is there.

Okay - that's all good and well, but how do I define the board area if it is a different shape than a square board, a circle for example, or some other random shape, for esthetic purposes?
