How to access layer 50

Question

Hi,

I am trying to generate a IDF file using the generate_3d_data_v10.ulp and I keep getting an error. The error is that I do not have a board outline defined in layer 50. however when I go the board layout and create a polygon for my outline I cannot see layer 50 on my list of avialable layers. I only see layers 49, 51,52 at the end, layer 50 is absent.

Any ideas why its missing?

That's normal. its an unused layer

Make it usable.

In the package editor command line type

LAYER 50 BoardDimension3D

You then have a layer 50 named "BoardDimension3D"

Make the name whatever you like.

There are other layers you will need to provide data into.

Open the ULP in a text editor and reference the notes near the top.
