Creating a tplace and tkeepout outline for odd shaped devices

a) I would make a .scr script to draw the outline, using masures from

the datasheet.

b) Getting scale right using bitmaps is more tricky and more error prone

and ends up as nunecessariyly much data.

Anyhow i have scanned a customers logo and with a image program

converted to two colors only ,and made a nice logo as library part using

the bmp import ulp.

Thanks for your reply.  I had thought of the script file to do the draw,

and have done that for creating board dimension outlines for those with

X,Y coordinates.  It turns out that this device has a lot of radius' and

  is quite difficult to describe, let alone deriving the undefined

dimensions from what is provided in the datasheet.

What I finally did was this...

1) scan the datasheet outline drawing into BMP

2) using Window's Paint, erase anything (text, etc,) that was not

outline in the image

3) save it as JPG

3) use Microsoft Photo Editor (photoed.exe) to highlight the edges of

the outline with the Edge option.

4) back in Paint, erase the inner edge

5) save it, and print it onto a laser transparency (piece of clear plastic)

6) tape the transparency over my monitor screen

7) with Eagle library editor on the screen, displaying the Package of

the stepper motor, scale the screen so that the transparency overlays

the Eagle image in the same scale

8) using Eagle WIRE, trace the outline on the transparency into the

package as a series of short straight lines.  One can also attemp to use

the various curved lines in the editor but it's pretty tedious.

This solution is really clunky but it worked.
