Copy/paste between pages

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

I am new to eagle and I have not been able to find a way to copy networks I

have drawn on one page of a schematic to other pages. I have tried grouping

the objects and then hitting copy, moving to the other page and hitting

paste, but it does nothing. I would also like to know how to copy an entire

schematic page. Copy and paste do not work as they traditionally do for

windows apps.

Thanks

David

    Hi David.

Using the little symbols in the toolbar or Menu Items, Try This:

    1.      Click the Little Dashed Square - Group on Edit Menu

    2.      Using the Rodent Outline the area to be copied

    3.      Click the Scisors - CUT on the Edit Menu

    4.      Click some location within the GROUPED Area - Reference Point

OR just Click the GO - Little Traffic Light on the Main Bar

    5.      Select the sheet where you want the COPIED parts to be

    6.      Click the Flashlight Icon - PASTE on the Edit Menu

    7.      The Contents of the PASTE Buffer will appear on the screen

with the Reference Point (selected in Step 4) attached to

            the rodent.

    8.      LEFT Click the place on the selected sheet where you want

            the paste to happen.

    9.      PRESS Escape to get out of the paste mode.

Seems like a lot of steps but is quite easy.  The procedure just

described works in Schematic, Library Edit and Board Layout.

Bear in mind that the Eagle CUT Command Does NOT really cut data,

(the area selected in steps 1 and 2) out of the original location.

CUT just puts the data into the EAGLE Copy/Paste buffer.

ALSO NOTE - The Windows and Linux Cut/Paste functions are NOT the

same as those in EAGLE.  They WORK Differently and Separately.

There is currently NO way to Paste any information directly between

Windows Apps and the Eagle program.  The data types and formats of

the two Copy/Paste systems are vastly different.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Brownie
