CAM processor - how to export tfinish layer

Former Member

Hello Forum,

I have a fairly straightforward 2 layer board with an edge connector. Similar to the PCI-60-POS-SLOT part in con-amp.lbr, I have defined a mask for gold plating on the tfinish layer.

Question is, how do I export this layer as part of the CAM processing to send to the board house? Using Eagle 6.3.0

On a similar note is anyone aware of any 'extended' .CAM files to generate a multilayer board? The next board on my list requires 6-8 layers due to a dense BGA package, and the stock cam routines seem to support only 2 and 4 layer exports to 274X format.

Yes I am an Eagle newbie, but not a board design newbie.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

does your board house dictate what format that info should be in?  Do they supply a CAM job or guidance for things like filenames of layers like your tfinish?

CAM jobs are relatively simple to set up, and you could customise the current jobs yourself.  You simply load your CAM job, then add a new tab, select what layer/s you want it to use in the output, what output device and file you want to use, and run the job.

Good point, this is my first run with selective gold plating and I never thought to ask the board house if they prefer a specific format. As I had the layer defined in the part's package I thought it would be a good idea to include it as part of the CAM files.

As usual, if I had RTFM I would have found the answer (in fact I did 10 minutes after posting - isn't that always the way?) Too used to Googling for answers, once I noticed the 'Add' button on the CAM processor the solution became obvious.

Thank you for the quick response!
