Reading old version library?

gm4clq
gm4clq over 12 years ago

I have Eagle v6.4 (standard) and I cannot read a library created by v5.7 Eagle.

I get this message...

EAGLE update report

Date: 13/03/2013 10:36:48

File: C:/Program Files (x86)/EAGLE-6.4.0/lbr/oms02.lbr

An error occurred while parsing the intermediate XML file.

The XML file has been loaded into a text editor window as

C:/Program Files (x86)/EAGLE-6.4.0/lbr/oms02.rpt.lbr

Warning(s):

line 9287: invalid value '' for attribute 'name' in tag <pin>

Error:

line 9287, column 116: invalid/missing attribute 'name' in tag <pin>

In the report file, this is the offending line..

<pin name="" x="-5.08" y="0" visible="both" length="middle" direction="pas" function="none" swaplevel="0" rot="R0"/>

Can anyone help?

Should I install v5.7? Where can I get it?

Is there a convertor?

    You could do it two ways.

    (1)Open the file in version 5.12 and repair the symbol. Get it from

    ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/5.12/

    (2)Edit the XML that version 6 has generated.

    I would view the XML file that was generated to determine the name of the

    symbol that has the problem.  Look prior to the error line for the first

    line and write down that name as you will need it

    later.

    Then immediately above or below your error line there should be others that

    are pins as well but they should have names.

    Name the pin in your error line, making sure you don't use a name already

    used for a pin in this symbol.

    Save and try to load the schematic.

    If that works you need to inspect the symbol and any device that uses it to

    see how the random name you chose impacted it. Connections to pads may need

    repairing.
