Unexpected Polygon Pour

Bertl
Bertl over 12 years ago

According to the documentation, overlapping polygon pours and cutouts should work with recent eagle versions.

The setup is simple, ground on the outside, supply on the inside, and some empty space inbetween.

Nevertheless, I'm unable to get this to work properly and no configuration I tried (ranks, cutout, signal names, ...) gives the desired result.

The questions arising from the attached files are:

- How do I make the pour filling up the space between the power planes disappear?

- Why is the space filled regardless of the 'Orphans' setting?

- Why doesn't the 'cutout' pour have a 'Rank'?

Many thanks in advance,

Herbert

Is the attached image what you are after?

I simply changed the pour of the cutout polygon to 'cutout'.

    v6.3.3 on Windows

You wont get the attachement at Element14, they havn't worked out how to

pick it up from the Newsgroup  news.cadsoft.de You best pick it up at

I see that images do get to Element14 now. That would have been a good thing

    to announce in eagle.announce.eng

The attached image is indeed what I'm after, but changing the middle polygon to cutout only looks like it would work because of the lazy updates to polygon pours.

The moment you press the 'Ratsnest' button, the inner polygon becomes unfilled as well, probably because the connection to the part is inside the cutout region, which doesn't have a rank.

    But thanks for the efford,

    Herbert

Sorry, I was a bit quick to respond.

Reading the HELP reveals that  the cut pour  works like a 'cooker cutter'

and takes out the area of all signal layer polygons that it covers.
