Simple question, just want to double check!

Hi,

I havea pretty simple question, just want to double check if they are ok as I dont have any experisnce in Eagle or pcbs.... anyway.

I have a 10 pin header for analog rotary pots, some of the wiper pins im not using so I need to ground them by connecting them to the ground wire (pin no1) I just want to double check this is possible to do staight from the pins.

See the picture bellow, is this ok? If so which one is better. All I want to do is connect the unused wire back to the first one to ground them.

    Hi.
Yes, I don´t see any problem with that.

I would go with the http://tinypic.com/r/2qmjjeo/6 which I think look better, but boot examples do the same thing.

    Thanks Matias!

Just whilst we are here. I got giving some eagle files for the components Im using.

There is two of each one with no grey background and one with. Could you please shed some light as to what this is?

I guess the grey means either some kind of ground or maybe a silkscreen?

Just cant seem to figure it out and dont want to end up using the wrong one if it isnt just for a silk screen!

    Thanks again Matias.

    Hi.

It´s hard to tell by just looking at a picture, so it would not even be a good guess.

Try the following in the package or PCB editor.

    Menu: View/Layer Editor

Now unmark one layer at a time wich have gray color, and remember to press Apply after every change or you will not see the changes.

When the gray fill/background dissaper you know wich layer it was.

If you need more information regarding how to do this, or what that layer is, please just ask.
