Is it possible to REALLY disable the alpha-blending WITH a white background?

According to the UPDATE_en text file

- If you want to have the old raster OP behavior on black background,

you can uncheck the "Use alpha blending" box in the "Options/Set/Colors"

dialog. In that case the alpha value defined for the colors is ignored

when using a black background, and colors are mixed using an OR

    function.

Why only a black background? Why did it work with a white background before.

I have a colour deficiency (like a lot of the male population) and red does

not stand out well from black in the schematic. Switching from one white

screen to a black one is really good for eyestrain. I work on both the sch

and the pcb.

What on earth is the point of the alpha-blending in the schematic in any

case. Why would you want to superimpose objects?

The different background buttons are not obviously buttons on linux.

Which buttons are you referring to?

    Can you provide a screenshot?

    Attached.

One cpu killer for me was the use of a large cursor. Switch to the small

cursor for a hardware accelerated cursor!! Moving the cursor around the

screen used up 50% cpu. I do not know why the performace difference is so

large between v4 and v5 with the large cursor though.

In version 4 we could draw the large cursor with the XOR raster OP,

directly to the widget on screen. Version 5 is based on Qt 4, which,

unfortunately, had totally abandoned raster OP capabilities. Therefore we

now need to redraw large parts of the screen widget when drawing the large

    cursor.

    That explains a lot.

The world does strange things in the name of progress...

    Again, thanks for the follow-up.

Well, they look like buttons to me.

How do you suggest they should look?
