Gerber coordinates not matching up to board layout

pjuk
pjuk over 12 years ago

I was having a look through the gerbers generated from the package job files in 6.5 (gerb274x and excellon.cam) and the coordinates don't seem match up the the what is in the layout e.g.

I've created a simple 1x1inch board with 4 drill holes at (0.1,0.1) , (0.1,0.9) , (0.9,0.1) , (0.9,0.9) along with a little square track along the top layer in the centre. The drill file looks like:

%

M48

M72

T01C0.0236

%

T01

X1100Y1100

X9100Y1100

X9100Y9100

X1100Y9100

M30

There is no offset in .dri file.  The same goes for the component side file with everything 100mil off.  I'm curious why this is happening?

Thanks

At a guess, it's because you have a dimension line (the board outline)

exactly on the axis. Gerber files don't handle negative coordinates so

Eagle has to ensure there are none. If any of your Gerbers, including

the dimension layer, has a non-zero-width trace on the axis that could

constitute a negative coordinate, so Eagle shifts everything up a bit.

No doubt someone will come along soon to correct me if I'm wrong image
