What exactly are the Eagle limits for routing and schematic capture?

Hello all,

I'll have to route motherboard with many integrated circuits including a CPU of 750 I/O's, Flash memory devices and about twenty other chips (LCD driver, HSIC hub, PMIC, WLAN & GPS modules, Audio Codec, gyroscope...).

The schematics is over 20 pages with about 60 to 100 devices per page, the board would be a 8 layer's PCB with laser vias and buried vias.

is Eagle it capable to manage a so complex design without lagging or crash?

    Hello Laurent,

I hope you're doing well. EAGLE can manage such a design, the biggest

schematic I've ever seen was about 50 pages, so you're still within

that. Don't expect the autorouter to give you a good layout since there

are lots of high speed components on the board so the layout needs to be

carefully crafted for optimum performance, something the Autorouter

    can't do.

    hth,

    Jorge Garcia

    Hi Jorge,

Thank you for your answer. Of course, we didn't intend to use the Autorouter.

I had some fears because in our Eagle , there's sometimes some lags with w7. But I don't know what causes these lags.
