Eagle v6.0 Part Creation Issue

Hi,

I have created a part in Eagle's v6.5.0 library.  I have a custom library that I've added hundereds of parts to and all works perfect except for this one part.

It is a 10 pin dual row 0.05" pitch and row spacing.  I'm using through hole(0.025") with square pads(0.040") at 0.05" spacing.  The distance between the square pads is 0.008" when measured in the part library file.

Howver, after I create it, and bring it into the layout, the spacing between the square pads change to 0.005"??

Anyone know WHY this is happening?

Usually, that happens because your library part requires a "restring"

(width of copper around the hole to make up a pad) that is too small for

the DRC rules in place on your board. To achieve 0.04" pads on a 0.025"

hole is a restring of 0.0075". The gap of 0.008" implies a restring of

0.0085", in fact, while the 0.005" on the board would result from a

    minimum restring setting of 0.01"

    HTH,

    Rob

I think i understand what your exaplining, but whatever numbers I put into the Design Rules/Restring tab, in the "Top" Pads box, nothing will increase the gap between the copper rings.  I can decrease it so the rings overlap, but nothing to increase the distance between the rings.

Is there a setting I'm missing in the library?  Should the diameter ring for the holes in the library be set to "auto" for this part or force it to 0.040"?

I got it.  I was looking only at the top layer, and was not changing the bottom layer restring setting.

All is good, thanks for the help!
