How to Edit Schematic Symbol from a Library

Hello Everyone,

First off, I am a real newbie to EAGLE.  I have been using other proprietary software but finally went with EAGLE.  One things I am struggling with is creation/editing of schematic sysmbols.  There are plenty of symbols in the libraries I would love to use that just need to be edited a little bit.  Example in the relay libray is the LY40 relay.  I would like to use the schematic symbol along with my own package design.  I can't figure out how to edit the pin definitions once I copy it into my own library.  I need to change them from O, S and P to numbers 5-16.  All help is appreciated!  Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

I'm not an EAGLE expert, but I'll take a shot at it.

In the library editor, with your library open, click on the package editor and select the LY40. Click on the "Info" button and then click on one of the relay pads. A properties window will pop up, and you will see the pad name listed there. So when you are building your custom package design, you can set that name to be whatever you like. You can also change it by clicking on the "Name" button, selecting the pad, and editing it in that pop-up window.

    Have fun,

    Ray
