What are these files ?

donrecardo
donrecardo over 9 years ago

I have been learning to make my own library parts

I wanted to make pin headers  ( with different pads to the normal pinhead library)

I found out I could  make just one library My_Header_Pins.LBR and include in it various sizes of connector

like 3 pins , 4 pins etc .

When I just looked in the library folder I see I have My_Header_Pins.LBR and also several others like

My_Header_Pins.L#1

My_Header_Pins.L#2

My_Header_Pins.L#3

My_Header_Pins.L#4

What are these extra files with the strange extension. Are they just something that gets made each time I add to my library

and do I need to keep them or can I just delete them ?

Those are backup files. If you're happy with your changes and don't need to revert to a previous version of your library, you can delete them...

Every time you save anything in Eagle it makes one of these '#n' files

as a backup of the previous version. If you're sure you didn't make any

mistakes and won't want to go back (or if you are using a version

control system and have saved all the history that way) then yes, you

    can safely delete them.
