How to upgrade from EagleCad 6.4 to 6.5 without loosing the license?

lvignals
lvignals over 11 years ago

When a license is installed for EagleCad version 6.4, what is the procedure to upgrade from 6.4 EagleCad to version 6.5?

Do I need to backup the license file first?

Can I install both versions side by side?

Will the upgrade replace the existing version in place and pick-up the license that was already installed?

Does CadSoft/Element-14 documents the proper upgrade process in detail somewhere?

Thanks :-)

You can install 6.5 beside 6.4.  Use the same license file and the same

    activation code.

The default installation location on Linux is /opt/eagle-6.5.0.  This

does not overwrite 6.4.  Installation will not automatically pickup the

license.  Since you install Eagle as root, you can license it at the end

of the installation process.  I don't know about Mac or Windows.
