I am using the eagle cadsoft software to complete a schematic board; but i am having a hard time getting the wires to connect. I am making changes to the drawing, as a result i have drawn new parts to replace existing parts. Does anyone know what the problem is?

That usually occurs if the grid setting was changed from the default setting. The pins need to be placed on the default grid (the remainder of the symbol doesn't have to be).

As a general rule, avoid changing the grid setting when using the schematic editor, and when creating symbols for components (at least for the pins as mentioned).

Thank you very much. I am going to change back the grid setting to its original settings.

Is there another method to get this fix? because I have changed the grid and I am still experiencing the same problem?

If you created components with pins in the symbol on a different grid setting to the default, then this problem will remain. You'll need to edit any components that you created and get the pins placed on the default grid locations.

Aside from that, there is no reason I can think of for nets to not connect to pins. As long as you follow the rule never to touch the grid in the schematic view and when creating the component symbol, then the nets will connect.

By the way, when creating the schematic, don't use 'lines' or Wire,  use 'nets'. In other words, use the icon shown in the green circle below, not the one in the red circle.
