How do I display net names on a schematic page?

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I have other schematic capture cad programs I have always given custom net names to all nets and shown most on the schematic.  This helps me check my work and allows for improved understanding of the routed PCB.  In addition, it allows me to give identical net names to nets that are not connected visually on the schematic if I so choose.

How do I do this in Eagle?  I have searched and not found an answer.

I would hope to do something like right click on a wire, then see an attribute to check like "show net name".  But I do not see that.

Thanks . .

    Hi David,

You can also use the info tool (the "i" at the top left of the tool panel) it will show info about anything you click on, including the net name.

Yes you can use info ONCE you have made the net name visible via the LABEL command.

No, you're wrong. You can use the INFO tool to find the name of a net

regardless of whether it's got a label. Renaming the net doesn't affect

the appearance of the unadorned schematic without a label, but the net

    name IS reported by INFO.

I do not think I am wrong image

Yes INFO tool does give you the name of the net regardless of it's visibility, so does the NAME tool.  HOWEVER, the original question asked how to display net names.  If the intention is to just query the net name (not actually display it on the net) then INFO or NAME tools both can be use.  If you actually want to display it permanently then LABEL is used.
