Eagle CAD, custom part connect it to Plane

Former Member

Hello,

I created a custom SMD part (a negative battery contact pad) the pad is part of the GND Net in the schematic... To my suprise, when I created the GND Plane, this pad is completely isolated from the plane (plane is Named GND) and was expecting the contact pad to have a thermal-type connection to the plane... however, it is isolated instead.

Did I forget something when creating the part, or forget something somehwere else?

How do I get this pad connected to it's associated plane?

Thank you!

In the schematic, it is likely the net is not connected to the battery

negative pin. Move the battery and confirm the attached nets move also.

You may also check that ensure the name of the net connected to the

    battery negative is named GND.

Thanks Warren, when I re-checked the schematic, I found a typo when I named the Plane! So, you were correct. Thank you.

New problem... is there a way to make the thermal connection to the pad larger ***without*** increasing the width of the outline of the plane/polygon?

    Thank you!

    yes and no ...

you could switch off the thermals completely for that polygon

or draw a small polygon (same net, wider outline) just around the pin

or just draw trace stubs starting from the pin
