How do I put in a smd socket for an xbee?

I have the sockets 1X10 2mm for the Xbee in the library.  what is the best way to put the sockets on the board/schematic that still represents the Xbee on the board.

 

The sockets will be on the board in the assembly and later the Xbee will be put in the socket.

 

Not sure if I asked my question correctly or not.

    Hi Doug

     

     

    Have a look at http://www.ladyada.net/make/xbee/download.html

     

    In the board file you will see they have made a library part for the

    xbee. Then they place the 1X10 2mm sockets to line up with the placement

    of the xbee. This approach is good if you wish to automate your Bill of

    Materials as the component count come out correctly. Trouble is, if you

    move the xbee you must also move the sockets separately. Just remember

    to group all three before the move.

     

    More common is to just place the xbee library item and connect to that

    as the pads on that part will suffice as the pads on the board to mount

    your sockets.
