How to generate a Component Placement List?

I am trying to get a quotation from a new vendor (Advanced Circuits) and

they are asking for a CPL (Component Placement List) As the other

vendors I have worked with in the past have not needed this, I have

never generated this. How to you generate a Component Placement List in

Eagle 5.4?

  • I have been using Advanced Circuits and Advanced Assembly for quite awhile

    now.  They are Sister companies with Advanced Circuits (www.4pcb.com)

    etching the PCB and Advanced Assembly (www.aapcb.com) doing the PCB

    assembly.  If you asked either for a quote for PCB board AND PCB assembly as

    a package, then you would have to supply XYRS information for the the

    Pick-N- Place assembly machine. I use the excellent free Bom Builder

    software (http://www.aapcb.com/SMTVerificationTool.asp) that aapcb.com

    provides.  It imports your gerbers and you manually or automatically place

    your components on the gerbers.  You also indicate the info for each device,

    so they know what device goes where on the board.  You can't expect to send

    a bunch of parts and an etched board for assembly and get an assembled board

    back "magically" done.  It takes some WORK.

     

    Go to http://www.screamingcircuits.com/services/faq.aspx#eagle and download

    their Eagle script to produce XYRS data in Excel form.  It will show you

    what data you're missing for board sumission.
