force a connection between a net and symbol

I cannot get a net to connect to my custom symbol.  The symbol is created in a 0.1 grid and the schematic is a 0.1 grid.  The end of the net aligns perfectly with the pin but does not connect.  Is there a way to force this connection?

    pick up the symbol an drop in place.

     

    Dropping a pin onto a net creates a connection.

    Dropping a net onto a pin (while moving or duplicationg an allready

    existing net) does not.
