lmadmin won't run - ubuntu 12.10

Hi I have an ubuntu 12.10 machine that I need to runt he license server on for v7.

Here is what I see:

image

I saw some very brief information in the CadSoftReadme_en.txt file that states:

"hint: If the error message "file not found" appears on linux although the file is there...  LSB package is missing".

So I'm not even sure if this is the issue that I'm running into because the message is 'unable to execute' not 'file not found'.

I don't really have the option to install the entire lsb package and don't see why I would need to.   The ubuntu config that I've got

has been worked over by our internal IT folks to be secure for our corporate network and when I try to add lsb through the software center,

it mentions that a lot of the packages are not trusted:

Also installing various things like desktop, graphics, email, jpeg, etc all seem like they are completely unnecessary just run a license server.

What I'm looking for is the bare-minimum needed to run the lmadmin program -- or more information on the error I am getting if it's not lsb related.

Last it looks like lmadmin is actually finding all of the libraries it needs including something for 'lsb' so I'm doubly not even sure this error is related to not having LSB installed like the read-me would indicate:

Really stuck here in terms of getting the purchased licenses installed.   We've still got a good while left on the freemium so it's not blocking us but would like to get this resolved fairly soon.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

Make sure that you're running lmadmin as a normal user, it will not run

properly if you are the root user. We do recommend installing the LSB

package to make sure all of the dependencies are met.

You can obtain a list of the dependencies for lmadmin by using the ldd

command. Let me know if you continue to run into problems.

    hth,

    Jorge Garcia

    Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the suggestion - when I run as a normal user I get the message 'bash: ./lmadmin: No such file or directory' which still sounds like the lsb problem described but not exactly.

I did run ldd on the lmadmin command and actually the results are above - it found libraries for all of the dependencies.  (I googled the first line item that is a hex # and apparently this is some kernel shared memory area and never shows up as a file in the filesystem, but the rest of the files exist).   This is why I'm wondering if I really am having an LSB issue.

I also tried downloading from the flexera site and while that command actually ran I am having a lot of trouble getting it setup as a service.  And it concerns me that they have a notice about taking the download page offline at the end of the month - because if cadsoft only provides the one executable going forward I'll need to figure out how to make it work.
