Eagle3d PovRay

I would like to work with the PovRay version of Eagle3d.  Many web sites point to www.matwei.de/doku.php?id=en:eagle3d:eagle3d as the url to go to for downloading 3d40.ulp or 3d41.ulp.  This link has been dead for at least the past several days.  I can't find any other sites that have posted a copy of the files.  Does any one know where I can download these ULPs?

Creating 3D PCB's using PovRay was a very old methode. - obsolete since 6 years.

Actualy you can translate to 3D with Google Sketchup and Eagle-Up:

    SketchUp Pro | SketchUp

you can find here all what you need:

    Installation | Eagle meets SketchUp

    Than you need a Rendering:

Maxwell Render :: The next generation in rendering technology capable of simulating light exactly as it behaves in the r…

    - the Information how to using it you gets here:

    Installation | Eagle meets SketchUp

    how to modelling a part:

how to model | Eagle meets SketchUp

An 3D example you can find at the attachment.

    Best Regards

    Thank you.

I know that the PovRay method is old but I have some old enclosures that are modeled in PovRay.  I would like to add PC board assemblies to the old PovRay enclosure models.  For new work the Google Sketchup method would be better but to rework old material I would like the ability to do this the old way.

    Thanks for the good reply,

    Bruce

    Thanks again.

I have PovRay.  My problem is the web site with the ULPs posts a not found message for all links that point to it.  The 3d41.ulp (probably what I really want) and the 3d40.ulp (older) seem to only have only existed on the web at the single site where the author posted them.  As near as I can tell that single site went down in the last month or two.  I found some fresh April 2014 postings that referred to the site but I have been trying for several days and the links have always posted error messages.

If there is another site posting the ULP files then I'll be in good shape.  After about an hour on Google I only find links to the matwei.de web site.

Since the files were freely distributed for years there should not be any copyrights or other restrictions keeping me from getting them.  It seems to be a simple case of everyone was respectful to the author and posted a link to his site rather than reposting the files.  If anyone can provide me a link, temporarily post their copy or somehow email the files to me (I don't know how without publishing my email) then I'll be able to work "the old way".

If the author is no longer posting the ULPs on his web site then posting them to the ULP repository at www.cadsoftusa.com would seem to be logical and easy.

    Thank you,

    Bruce

    Yes, i understood you.

I have this file - in the past sent file eagle3d_1_05_27112006.zip

I made an archive file from Matwei in 2006.

But sorry the upload was not possbile.

It seems there is a bug in the editor by the attachement.

How can i send the  both files 3d40.ulp (if you needs too) and  3d41.ulp to you?

ok, once more i try the direct uploading.

Now you have helped me with these files. Thank you image

I have the same file folder, but some of the files are different, have different content.

Well, translating with PovRay is an old method.

With Sketchup is easy to use. And you can find a lot of devices in Sketchup file format.

Free 2D & 3D CAD files, models and drawings of mechanical, electrical & mechatronics part catalogs.

    https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=electronic+parts&backendClass=entity

With Sketchup you can easily generate an animated 3D PCB, turn around all sides also in a pdf file.

// - Please see this, i also wrote this information for the other element14 readers - //

    Regards

    Thank you,

I downloaded this file.  It still leaves me with a couple of questions and problems.

    1) The compressed file has 1984 files in it.  All files are png images of components.  All files names are in the format component_info.pov.png.  These seem to just be png image files.  I haven't had a chance to work with Eagle3d yet but I am assuming that the povray code and image files do not get combined into a file with a name of file_name.pov.png.  I was not able to find any ULPs or PovRay code in the archive.

    2) I still don't have the 3d40.ulp or 3d41.ulp files that I need.

    3) Your posting and several Google searches pointed me to the Berlios web site.  It seems like that web site has Eagle3d has one of its projects.  But, I didn't find any Eagle content on their sites with my searches and with your links I still only have 1984 images.  Am I somehow missing ULPs or other content that they have posted?

    Thank you,

    Bruce

The png-archive is only for the interactive preview by choosing and

selecting a model when the ulp is running.

    2) I still don't have the 3d40.ulp or 3d41.ulp files that I need.

You should download the eagle3d_20110101.exe file.

In this file are all functional parts for eagle3d.

It works also without the png-archive.

    3) Your posting and several Google searches pointed me to the Berlios

I don'w know where Matthias is. A few month ago his page was there!?

Thank you.  The eagle3d_20110101.exe suggestion wouldn't work for me since I am using LInux (sorry, I should have posted that detail earlier) but a Google on that file got me to Eagle3D | Free software downloads at SourceForge.net and there I could click on "browse all files" and I found an archive file with the ULP I am looking for and lots of other good files.  Now I can get started.

Thank you to all that posted and were helpful.
