How to I create a symbol/footprint for a plug in module?

Hi,

 

We are using the Danville Signal Dspblok 21489 module and we need to create a symbol and footprint.  It has multiple header connectors of various sizes.  I have created symbols and footprints for single connector parts but how do I create multiple connector parts/module?  Can I preserve the multiple connector names in the footprint?  LIke JH1, JH2, JH3 etc?....or do I have to call the collection of headers say JH1 and the go though and number the pins consecutively as I go through the various connectors?

Or am I missing something completely?

    Hi,

    for symbol, it's quite easy. When you create a device, you can add as many symbol as need. (for example, Quad amplifier, include 1 symbol  for power connections, and 4 same symbols for each gate. You can proceed in the same way. You create a device with n time the symbol you already created, you names them JH1, JH2 etc...

    If in your single header symbol you named the pin 1, 2, 3 etc... then in you final device, the pin will be name JH1.1, JH1.2,... JH2.1, JH2.2.....

     

    But you can associate 1 footprint only. So the best way is to create a complete 1 footprint. You simply use the header footprint you have made, for copy/paste operation. (You open you foot print, you select all, and copy the group, then open the complete footprint and paste and many time you need at the right place).
