Old design export to LTspice simulator

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hi All,

First post here, sorry if this has been answered a million times before.

I have an old design made with 4.16R2, how do I get this into LTspice for simulation?

I have tons of home made libs - do I need to add them to the version 7 lib base?

Best regards

Jens

I just made a little file in LTSpice and looked at it in notepad and it was pretty straightforward.  It might be tedious, but you could try to cut-and-paste a small file you have into a minimal LTSpice header file and see if it parses.  The basal SPICE file is text and uses standard keywords and tokens, pretty much.  Strip off whatever headers and footers come with the old system.

    Hi Don,

I want to do it via the version 7 eagle. This opens my old file fine, but the problem starts when I try to export.

Here it fails - struggling with my libs and adding this new layer99 stuff.

I will try some more when I have a few hours to spare....

    Thanks

    \\\Jens

You can look at a SPICE file with an ascii editor such as notepad.  The central parts of the files may be compatible. They usually place application-specific stuff at the beginning of the file.  You may also have to change your file suffixes.

If you first get the simplest file to work, you can bring in code line-by-line and see what it chokes on.  Lotta work, though.

    Hi,

I now have all the wires exported to LT, but all components are missing...

I have to understand the lib requirements.

I'd guess that that information is also in plain text.  I'd create a file on both systems that only had a component or two and compare them.  Good Luck!!
