I would never have bought V7 if I thought I would have this much trouble with the new licensing

I decided to buy V7 and holy smokes did they mess it all up, I received my invoice and downloaded the key file like I have done before. The instructions on the invoice are pretty clear but it does not work. V7 is looking for a new .lic file. I had to read the damn instructions and install some server program that does nothing also I need to open a web browser to configure some server.

Before it took 3 minutes to install, now I want my money back.

in the flexnet I can not import the license file, all I get is Cannot upload a license file that has no VENDOR lines.

where are the vendor lines? why is it harder to figure this licensing stuff than to learn the damn program.

is there an easy step by step list to install this?

I'm so sorry I I payed good money for this.

Obviously you didn't notice that CadSoft reverted to the old licencing

mechanism meanwhile, due to massive customer "responses" (diplomatically

speaking). You will get a key file again.

Read the posts in the betatest group, and/or contact CadSoft.

After they decided to revert to the V6 licensing, I purchased the upgrade

to my "non-profit" license.  The version 7 license file I downloaded (per

the confirmation email I received) matches exactly (md5 sum) with the

version 6 license file I had - only the install code had changed.  I have

not installed v7 yet, but that does seem to confirm they (Cadsoft) has

reverted to the V6 licensing method after listening to the user community

    (thankfully).

Thanks for the help, I downloaded V7.1 Beta for now. I had no idea that they boondoggled up the whole licensing department so bad or I would have waited to buy it.

What I received was instructions for the V6 style licensing and I download the new V7.0. As you might suspect nothing worked at all. My invoice says I bought V7 and that's what I was hoping to install.

Why would they send me mixed up instructions? Its like I went to a restaurant for dinner and they forgot to cook the dinner and managed to get the order all wrong! GHEEES!

CADSOFT,  WHY DIDN'T YOU SEND AN EMAIL WITH MY INVOICE EXPLAINING THE LICENSING BOONDOGGLE AND GIVE SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?

I'm still mad about this mess, I spent about 4 hours working on their problem and not my projects.

    Thanks again.

I think you need to read the info posted a bit more closely.  They are

reverting to v6 licensing style with v7.1, but that was announced to be

released on Monday Aug 11.  So with v7.0 you'll have to use the initial

license, once v7.1 comes out you can use the old style v6 licensing scheme

but you'll need a new license.

That isn't to say it's been a lot of hassle and things weren't documented

very well at all.  But as of this coming Monday things should return to

    normal.

I've run the educational license for a long time for small personal products, but today I decided to look into upgrading.  I can't say how delighted I am that you've ditched the FlexNET license manager.  The MATLAB program uses that, and I can say honestly that there is no software I hate more.  I can never recall having complete success installing a new version of MATLAB without getting help somehow from tech support about the license manager.

I would have switched to some free software.  You made the right choice by going back to a more reasonable and straightforward licensing paradigm.

Eagle revert to the good old license system - license file and the

installation password, without any Hardware-Id !!!

You can upgrade, sure no any installations problems !!!
