Stop Mask Errors from Auto-Router

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

See attached.

The auto-router glibly places vias under markings on the tPlace and tNames and tValues layers.

The result is a bazillion (or in my case 143) Stop Mask Errors.

Do I ignore them? Am I doing something wrong? How would I correct them?

Thanks in advance.

The layers you mention are all silkscreen only and not important to the

function of the board, so I'm not surprised the autorouter prioritises

achieving the routing over avoiding their contents.

It is common practice to mask out the silkscreen for any such instances,

leaving gaps in the markings. If you want to avoid that, you will need

to hand-tweak the placement of vias and silkscreen elements. In most

cases, tValues wouldn't be included anyway, so you can ignore that.

I believe the DRC doesn't flag low criticality errors like this if the

relevant layers are not shown when it's run. So you can either run the

DRC with tPlace, tNames and tValues hidden, or you can review and

    approve all the errors.

    HTH,

    Rob
