Hi, there are a lot of ultrasonic sensors that I found to be waterproofed. But how to know if they work underwater?
Can anyone suggest me some sensors that can measure distance in water (for depth around few metres)?
Thanks.

You can either use a piezo transducer that is not waterproof and "couple"
it through the wall of a container or get one that is rated for use
underwater - you will have to look at the spec sheets. You also need to
consider the frequency - what are you looking at and what resolution do you
need (higher frequencies give better detail/resolution) You can actually
get piezo transducers that operate well into the mhz range (look at the
image detail they get with medical ultrasound equipment). Typical small
boat depth sounder transducers are usually either 50khz for deep water or
200khz for shallower water and more detail You might consider a 200khz
depth sounder transducer for your application?
