When I make assembly sheets for hand assembled surface mount boards I like
to create a whole series of layer on the brd drawing, one layer for each
component value. I then place rectangles over the parts that have that
value. For example, I will have a 100pF layer, and I will put a rectangle
of 100pF layer over each 100pF capacitor on the board. Each part type has
a different color and or stipple pattern. I then print this out on my ink
jet and go build the board. This worked fine in version 4 of eagle, but in
version 5 (I am using 5.4.0) the printout always makes the rectangles opaque
and it covers the part name/value/outline. This is true for any fill
pattern, except the empty/non filled, fill pattern. I do not have the
solid option checked in the print dialog box.
This is very annoying and I do not see why you would have changed the
behavior from the previous version. Am I doing something wrong? Is there
an option flag or something that I can set to make the rectangles non
opaque?
My particulars are:
Eagle Professional 5.4.0
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
Printer: HP DeskJet 990cxi
