clearance for therm pads

Janvi
Janvi over 11 years ago

we have a GND polygon for plane area with pads inside.

Unfortunately our thermal pads have insufficient clearance.

Properties for the poly line shows a setup dialog with

Width - to adust the width of connectors between plane and pads.

The width works well within limits and we set this to 0,2mm.

Plane always generates 4 connectors with 0/90/180/270 degree

if there is enough space for. Where is it possible to set a default

of 2 connectors (e.g. 0/180 degree)?

Spacing - is useless for the clearance of therm pads and obviously

only works for hatch patterns and not for thermal pads

Isolate - is useless becouse it only adjust the isolation space to

other nets and not the gap of the therm pad.

For the moment, the thermal isolation gap is only 0,25mm and we cannot

find the parameter to adjust this. On the other hand, we have very old boards

what show approx 0,5mm space for thermpads in physical copper. Retrieving

this desings and output new Gerber without changes cannot produce the

former resulsts.

The Thermal isolation parameter is on the "Supply" tab of the DRC

    settings dialog.

    Hi Janvi,

I hope you're doing well. Thermal connections are always attempted using 4 spokes there's no way to change that. By thermal isolation I understand the separation between the polygon and the pad itself. Go into the DRC > Thermals tab, that parameter defines the isolation between polygons and the pad they connect to with thermal. By default it's set to 10 mils.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia
