Way to let user select Part in Schematic using ULP or SCR?

I am writing an ULP to help a user replace parts that have incompatible pin-counts using a dialog-based way.
Is there any way using an ULP or SCR to display a message like "please select the desired part" and let the user

at the same time select a part from his schematic and in return, of course get the selected part?

 

Any input is greatly appreciated!

    not by clicking on parts while the ULP is running.

     

    you can either select (group) the part(s) then run the ULP, or install

    a custom right-click menu entry.

     

    For the latter look for "context menus" in the online-help of the

    "set" command.
