Frozen device?

bozone44
bozone44 over 10 years ago

I am new to eagle.

Using 7.2.0

I have watched a number of tutorials on create a new part library, although all of them are for older versions then 7.2.0.

I manage to create a part watching a tutorial for V4.x although it was very confusing as a lot of the screen shots didn't jive with 7.2.0

The good thing is my part work in my schematic.

Then thing went wrong.

I created more parts and all seemed to go well, IE; combined a package and a symbol into a device, was able to place part on my schematic.

This is where thing went wrong.

Once the part is placed on the schematic it is frozen. IE: i can not move, rotate, delete ,place nodes or any other operation.

also the part i first designed that uses to work is now frozen.

I have uninstalled 7.2.0 and re installed it but did not fix the problem.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Any leads as to a current tutorial using 7.2.0.

Thank

Norm

Do you have the origins layers displayed?

Or possibly managed to create an origin on the wrong layer (sounds like

something I would manage to do).  Many of the tutorials I have watched show

MOST of the steps, but tend to skip over any mention of which layers you

are supposed to put names etc. on (and it is NOT intuitively obvious).

I found the problem with "Frozen Device".

Being new to Eagle i was careless as to where I placed the package, and the symbol, when they where created. IE: I didn't place them around the ORIGIN.

Parts can only be manipulated from the origin, my origin was outside the part there for could not be manipulated,

    Newbee mistake.
