Easy/auto updating .brd file with schematic changes?

Question

Is there some easy or better yet, automatic way to update the .brd file with schematic changes? I did an initial board design, but ended up changing a few components and rather then starting over from scratch, I'd like to just rip up part of the board, layout the new components and then route the wires.

Unfortunately, when I make the modifications to the schematic, I end up with a warning about the board & schematic not being consistent and I'm left manually deleting the old components, adding the new ones and connecting the various pads first with wires (ala ratsnet) and then with actual traces.

Is there a better/easier way then having to do all this manually and effectively twice the work?

Make sure the schematic and the board are always opened together. This way, when you make changes in the schematic, Eagle will immediately make the changes in the board. So, never close the schematic or board editor window! Instead use the Eagle mainwindow and close the project. Next time, when you open the project, the schematic and board will be opened automatically.
