Assembly SMD pad placement

Does anyone know what the minimum separation between 2 pads for a pick and

place machines are (solder not placement precision)?  I've got a chip where

the two pins are only .035 mm apart and I'm worried that the solder may

bridge with such a small distance.

    It is best to contact your assembly house for their placement specs. You

    may ask, 'What is your minimum pad pitch on SMD components for

    assembly?' My experience says 0.35mm is the minimum, but do contact your

    house for verification. I would recommend leaded solder if possible with

    your project, for that fine of pitch.- ted
